Updated: Sources checked on 3 November 2026
In short
Enter the date of your first exam attempt. The calculator shows the end of the 18-month period, counted from the end of that month. With the date of your last passed subject, it also shows until when the theory is valid for the issue of a PPL.
How the calculator works
| Deadline | Rule | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| Pass all subjects | FCL.025(b)(2), AMC1 FCL.215; FCL.235 | end of the calendar month of the first attempt plus 18 months |
| Attempts | FCL.025(b)(4) | at most four per subject; after that, or once the period has run out, all subjects again after further training |
| Validity of the theory | FCL.025(c)(1)(i) | 24 months from the day you completed the theory |
| School recommendation | FCL.025(a)(3) | 12 months from the date of the recommendation |
